Parent Advisory Committee
Parents are invited to help organize and participate in our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) groups. The goal of this group is to involve you in our early childhood programs as well as support our staff. Meetings are at a convenient time, once a month.
HoneyTree Early Learning Centers use Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) guidelines to ensure that children are growing and playing in a loving, nurturing environment with lots of opportunity to question and explore.
At HoneyTree, Education and Play Go Hand In Hand...
Instead of having our certified teachers and aides design a course of study each month on their own, we chose to invest big here -- up to $60,000 per year -- to license the nationally-approved curriculum: Pinnacle.
Marketed by the Child Care Institute, www.cceionline.com is based on the works of Piaget, Gardner, and Erikson, including hands-on, center-based activities that promote the development of emerging skills. Written by early childhood experts with years of child care experience, Pinnacle Curriculum provides a research-based educational foundation infants through elementary age. It also features the best all-around program elements for the children and teachers.
What Is Pinnacle Curriculum?
Pinnacle is a guide for the daily curriculum of the early childhood classroom. It is designed to assist teachers with program planning that encourages children to develop their emerging skills in all developmental areas. It offers activities for both group time and various learning centers, and teachers have an abundance of ideas to enrich the learning centers in their classroom. The activities meet learning objectives that help children move toward their potential as they explore the materials and activities in the classroom.
Because Pinnacle Curriculum offers teachers so many ideas in an easy-to-use format, the burden of program planning is lighter and more time is available for meeting the individual needs of each child.
Each month of curriculum contains five weeks of programming, centered on a specific theme and tailored to the development skills for each age group. The teachers expand on them using their own creativity. From infant through pre-school, the themes grab your child's attention as they grow their skills.
Character Counts Program
CHARACTER COUNTS! And it should. Children are not born with good character. Good character is learned through direct teaching from those around us and by watching how others behave.
The CHARACTER COUNTS! program enables adults to teach the Six Pillars of Ethics --responsibility, respect, caring, fairness, trustworthiness and citizenship -- in ways that children of all ages may understand. This program provides a unified approach, which, in and of itself, strengthens the program.
For more information on CHARACTER COUNTS! and the National CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition, a project of the Josephson Institute, visit www.charactercounts.org.
